Secret #8

Are America and Great Britain in the Prophecies of Your Bible?

"More prophecy concerns these two nations than any other people on Earth."

Where Are America and Britain in Bible Prophecy?

Ask that question of the average minister in the average church, and watch what happens. He will pause. He will shift. He will finally tell you the two greatest peoples in the modern world are simply not there — that God, in thousands of prophecies about the last days, somehow neglected to mention the United States and the British Commonwealth entirely.

My friends, does that make any sense to you? The Book that predicts the rise and fall of Egypt, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome — and every one of those in remarkable detail — would be silent about the two peoples who have poured out more blessing, more wealth, and more Bibles on the world than any other nation in human history? Silent about the sole superpower of the modern age?

"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing… and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." Genesis 12:2–3

Herbert W. Armstrong stood alone against every mainstream Bible commentator of his generation to declare that America and Britain are in Bible prophecy — and that they are on nearly every page of it — but hidden under their ancient names. He wrote The United States and Britain in Prophecy to prove it, not from human speculation, but point by point, scripture by scripture, from your own Bible and from the plain record of secular history.

Mr. Armstrong called this identification "the strongest proof of the divine inspiration of the Bible" — because once you see the birthright promise fulfilled in the modern world, you can no longer doubt that God kept His word to Abraham. And once you see it, the prophecies of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, and half the Old Testament suddenly speak directly to the nations you live in.

"And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins."
Genesis 35:11

The Promise That Made a Nation

Everything hangs on one covenant made to one man. It was not vague. It was not spiritual only. It was national — and it was unconditional.

God swore to Abraham that his descendants would become "a great nation" (Genesis 12:2), that they would "possess the gate of his enemies" (Genesis 22:17), and that they would multiply until they could not be numbered "as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore." These promises were doubled to Isaac (Genesis 26) and again to Jacob, whose name God changed to Israel. And then, at the very end of Jacob's life, they were divided.

On his deathbed, Jacob laid his hands across the two sons of Joseph — Manasseh and Ephraim — and gave them, not Judah, the birthright. "Let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth" (Genesis 48:16). Manasseh, said Jacob, "shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations" (Genesis 48:19).

A single great nation. A multitude of nations. Brothers. Written down twenty-five centuries before either one existed on any map. Mr. Armstrong asks the one question your commentary will not: where are those two peoples today?

Two Great Nations From One Father

Notice what Jacob's prophecy did not say. It did not say Judah, the tribe of the Jews. It did not say the whole house of Israel would merge into one people. It named two distinct national blessings of very different kinds.

Manasseh, the elder brother, would become a single "great people" — a lone superpower, standing by itself. Ephraim, the younger, would become a "multitude of nations" — a family of peoples scattered across the earth, drawn together under one crown. Any honest student of modern history sees those two shapes immediately: the United States of America, and the British Commonwealth of Nations.

Then Jacob added the words that ought to arrest every reader: "Let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth" (Genesis 48:16). The word rendered "multitude" in Hebrew is dagah — literally, to swarm like fish. No other Bible commentator explains why. Mr. Armstrong does — because he actually traces where Joseph's descendants went.

The birthright is not a spiritual metaphor. It is a physical promise of national dominion, sea gates, wealth, and unparalleled agricultural blessing — and every one of those promises came due in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, on schedule, exactly as Jacob spoke them.

What You Will Discover

The United States and Britain in Prophecy is not a book of opinions or human speculation. Every point is proven directly from your Bible and cross-checked against the plain record of secular history. Here is just a portion of what Herbert W. Armstrong lays out, chapter by chapter:

Chapter 01

The Lost Master Key Has Been Found

Why nearly every prophecy of the Old Testament has stayed sealed to the modern reader — and the one identification that opens all of them.

Chapter 03

National Greatness Promised Israel

Why the Jews never received the birthright blessings God promised Abraham — and where those blessings actually landed.

Chapter 04

The Birthright and the Scepter

The critical distinction between the birthright given to Joseph and the scepter promise given to Judah — two separate lines, two separate destinies.

Chapter 06

Israel Becomes Two Nations

How the united kingdom split in two — and why every prophecy that follows must be applied to two distinct national inheritances, not one.

Chapter 12

The Birthright at Its Zenith

The nineteenth and twentieth centuries — when Britain held roughly a fourth of the earth and America stood alone as sole superpower. Every promise of Genesis 48 fulfilled on schedule.

Chapter 14

What's Prophesied to Happen Now

The sobering prophecies for the immediate future — what God has said is coming on America and Britain, and why He is sending the warning first.

Herbert W. Armstrong and the Lost Master Key

Herbert W. Armstrong did not invent the identification of America and Britain with the birthright tribes of Israel. He recovered it — from scripture, from Hebrew, and from the migrations of history the schools had forgotten.

The idea itself was old. Bishops, scholars, and lay historians had traced the northwest migrations of the "Lost Ten Tribes" for more than three centuries before Mr. Armstrong wrote a line. What he did — and what no one else had done — was strip the identification back to the Bible itself, prove it point by point from Genesis through Revelation, and press the prophetic weight of it onto the modern reader's conscience.

He first taught this material in 1954. He expanded it into The United States and Britain in Prophecy in 1967. By the end of his life the book had gone through multiple editions and had been read by an audience Mr. Armstrong reached through 400 television stations and eight million copies of The Plain Truth every month. It remains, forty years after his death, the single most requested piece of literature the Philadelphia Church of God still publishes free of charge.

The Prophecies Are for You

"Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land…" (Hosea 4:1).

The prophets did not write those words to the Jewish people. They wrote them to the northern house of Israel — to the descendants of Joseph. And once you can see who Joseph's descendants are today, every warning in Hosea, Amos, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel about the sins and the coming punishment of "Israel" and "Ephraim" is not distant history at all. It is a letter, delivered late but on time, addressed to your own nation.

Mr. Armstrong wrote this book because he loved these two peoples enough to tell them the truth their pastors would not. What is coming on America and Britain in the years just ahead is the direct, prophesied consequence of despising a birthright. There is still time to read the warning. There is still time to respond.

"I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early."
Hosea 5:15
